Brittany, May 2015

The sun is out, birds are singing and all looks great in Brittany.

Breakfast of plastic croissants and instant coffee over we headed into Ploermel hoping to find a supermarket that was open. Nothing! We did get fuel at a Super U so not a total loss.

I hoped I knew better and directed Val into Malstroit, success! The Super Casino we had used last year was open, and so was my wallet.

Provisions loaded we returned to the cottage, just missing a visit from the owner, weíll have to give her a call. Food stored in the kitchen it was time to explore.

Just down the road was a Vide Grenier, thatís a car boot sale to you and me, so a visit was taken. Nothing was bought, well I say nothing, we got sausage and fries each and some crepes for Ä7.00 which we took back to the gite.

Sitting in the garden hot sun and food mixed well, Val had a glass of orange juice declining to join me in the Rosť, her loss. The food was wonderful, I just hope I can match it with the evening meal.

Fed, it was time to go for a stroll down by the river. Not too hard and welcome as a bit of exercise we walked around 5K, saw a deer, a partridge, redstarts and numerous other birds. One path took us to a view point which over looked the valley, nice. From there we set off to find a Neolithic tomb, which was like a walk we took last year. It took us nowhere! There was some nice scenery, but no tomb.

Back at the gite by mid afternoon we chilled and had a drink reading before making our evening meal.

A salad with steak hachŤ and plenty of wine saw us satisfied and ready for bed. The weather has been super, hot and sunny, letís hope it carries on.

Bed, letís see what tomorrow brings.
