A grey morning and the weather forecast suggested it could be a showery day so…
On the road we stopped at a supermarket for supplies, spent a lot and bought not much, there wasn’t enough alcohol in the trolley to warrant the costs. This trip is seeming expensive with the Euro being roughly the same as the Pound, still.
Back in the road it was on to Saumur and an afternoon in the town.
Lunch was Bouef Borgignon, superb, apple tart for me and café gourmand for Val ( they only had one tart left)
Fed, we walked around the town, calling at several shops before ascending to the château, where we sat outside a bar with a couple of beers and watched the world go by. A stroll back into town found us back at the car and once more leaving a lovely town where we felt relaxed and at home.
The drive back to the cabin took us along the river side where the small villages and buildings clung to the rock like limpets to a boat. All picturesque and worthy of a later visit just because!
Back home we relaxed a little and then had sausages with sautéed potatoes followed by a cheese course for the evening meal.
