Nice start to the day with sunshine, so off to Azy le Rideau.
The village was busy as we arrived around , so we parked a short walk out and wandered in towards the chateau.
And what a chateau! Against all instincts we paid to go in, it was worth it. The building was open to all with display rooms set in different periods in one wing. The other had interpretations of life in the baroque and renaissance eras.
We walked around the grounds, had a drink, visited the shop and eventually left. A good visit all round.
We drove down back into the Loire valley and headed back towards our village. There was a picnic area alongside the river where we stopped and had lunch, at in the afternoon! Val had said she wanted to sit and watch herons and kingfishers on the river. We did, as well as egrets and cormorants.
Time slowed and passed in the hot sunshine eventually convincing us to return home to the cabin.
Once back we relaxed, Val doing circuits around the pool while I read.
The evening meal was a salad sitting at the table on the decking, we have plenty of room and, as usual, we’re spreading to fill it!
