An interesting morning, the sun is trying to play out but Mr rain isn’t letting it.
So, after breakfast we wandered down to Västerås and visited an old Neolithic grave site, the rain insisted in joining us. Back in the car we drove into Västerås proper and investigated a little before finally heading out of town and finding a nature reserve at Romas.
By this time Mr Rain had got tired and left us to have a walk around the reserve accompanied by Miss Sun and her friend Mr wind. The birds were around and we saw several types but no other wildlife.
Once more we drove on, this time heading to Boxholm where we hoped to eat. No chance, the restaurant we found looked OK but the offerings were uninspiring. The road led us on, eventually reaching the opposite end of the ferry to Torpon, which we crossed.
Once over and 30SK lighter (about£3!) we headed to the restaurant, success! Val had a kört baler smörgås, I had a räksmörgås, that’s a meat ball open sandwich and a prawn open sandwich. The drinks were a beer and a coffee. All in a good lunch watching the lake and ferry ply it’s trade.
Fed, we drove across the island and saw little in the line of wildlife, Mr rain came back to play and spoilt it for us. As we left the island and joined the main road we headed south, looking for cranes in the fields. We saw several and that made the day.
We headed home early, both of us tired and happy. Once back we sorted out our things and got ready for the morning, this was our last night at Olstorp, in the morning we head for Falkenberg and 3 nights in a small B&B we know there.
